On my stage 2 2004r, built by Transmission Depot out of Hudson, FL, I shift through all 4 gears by about 40 mph. I'm using the Bowtie Overdrive (BTO) TV Made EZ linkage system and I have solid pressure at idle and off idle, abiout 82psi at idle with no TV cable attached. I also have issues downshifting and the car stalling when I brake hard.

If it has the 327 275 HP engine it probably would run 15.9-16.4 like the stock one I owned. That car would stay in low gear until 65 MPH where it would shift. The 40-60 mph times were respectable for what it was.

Nov 24, 2009 · All auto's have weak points, as do manuals. Nothing wrong with a built 700r4, especially if you start with a 89/90+ trans. If you want, put a 200r4 in, they have a better gear spread and can also be built right. 350/400's are nice but for highway use, annoying, :sad:

The governor in a 200-4R controls wide open throttle (WOT) shift points. The governor consists of (2) weights and (2) springs. The lighter (smaller) the weights, the higher the shift points. All non performance trans received governors that were designed to shift at 3000 rpms WOT. Monte SS (CZF) trans shifted at 4800 rpms WOT as did the 442's.

For lower shift points at wide-open throttle install stronger springs. After the cable is adjusted the approximate shift points should be 15 to 18, 25 to 30 and 40 to 50 MPH at very light throttle depending on tire size and axle ratio.
